Extinction Rebellion is an international movement that uses non-violent civil disobedience in an attempt to stop mass extinction and minimize the risk of social collapse.

Why we exist

We are in the midst of an unprecedented crisis. We exist because our government refuses to implement the necessary policies to give citizens safety. Instead, they continue to help the same industries that are putting our lives at risk. We act in creative, peaceful and often disruptive ways to force needed action. History has shown us time and time again that civil disobedience is an effective and important tool for bringing about the necessary change.

Who we are

We are all kinds of ordinary people who are very worried about the nature and climate crisis. We are parents who defend our children, we are children who want to have a future and we are grandparents who rebel for life. Since its inception in 2018, we at XR Norway have gathered experience and knowledge about the use of non-violent resistance in Norway. We are a growing social movement with people willing to do what it takes (within the framework of non-violence) to create change.
