Extinction Rebellion Norway (XRN) is part of the international movement Extinction Rebellion, which fights for the right to a livable planet with three demands and ten values and principles.

In this document, XRN wishes to clarify the use of the organisation’s money, and to emphasize the importance of transparency in this process.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY COME FROM?

XRN’s money comes from individuals who donate money of their own free will. XRN does not operate with a membership fee, but receives donations from individuals, either as regular payments or lump sums to bank account 12546297436 or Vipps 556602.

In addition, XRN applies for money from XR’s international support apparatus (IST), which regularly makes it possible to apply for money for various purposes, such as courses, lectures, regional cooperation, regenerative culture and gatherings.

XRN wants to set up a working group for fundraising, with responsibility for applying for money from funds and organisations, but does not yet have this capacity. If you would like to work in this working group, contact Finance.

WHAT WILL THE MONEY BE USED FOR?

Without exception, our financial resources go to finance the rebellion.

XRN HAS THE FOLLOWING BANK ACCOUNTS:

Bank account 12546297436 is used for expenses related to courses, lectures, materials for promotions, travel expenses, digital infrastructure, and more. Account tip: 556602

1254.63.04017 is a solidarity account to support activists who have been convicted of civil disobedience. Account tip: 569161

1254.63.07415 is reserved for the rent for the office in Oslo at Schweigaardsgate 34C and expenses in related with member meetings.

HOW IS THE MONEY HANDLED:

The money in XRN is handled by the Finance working group. The working group reimburses the working groups’ and local teams’ expenses against a receipt and assesses applications for funding for various projects. Apart from the rent for the office in Oslo and expenses for the digital infrastructure, there are currently no fixed expenses.

XRN’s annual accounts and annual budget must be submitted to the organisation’s annual meeting for approval.

THE MANDATE OF THE ECONOMY WORKING GROUP IS TO:

• Keep daily control of XRN’s finances.
• Ensure that XRN has enough money to fulfill the movement’s purpose and finance its local and national actions
• Ensure that the finances are taken care of in a transparent and responsible manner.
• Ensure that those who work with financial processes have the necessary guidelines, organizational understanding and material.
• Ensure that there is a balance between income and expenditure.
• Prepare an annual budget that is made available to XRN’s board and annual meeting, and maintain budget control.
• Prepare an annual account that is made available to XRN’s board and annual meeting.
• Ensure that money is collected from supporters and through fundraising.
• Ensure that the spending of money in XRN takes place in accordance with the movement’s self-organizing system and without individuals gaining a disproportionate amount of influence over XR strategies and actions.
